The Old Stone Bridge

Oil on Canvas  8 x 10  $125

This scene is Good Acre Pond in Beacon Hill Park in downtown Victoria, BC. It's a 5 minute walk from work and I often walk through the park at lunch. I love watching the seasons evolve as the months go by. The photo reference for this one was taken in Spring. At the moment everything is bare and a bit on the brown side. I almost called this one The Green Room, because that's what it's like - so green and calming.

The days are now starting to lengthen, and up here on the 49th parallel we're dreaming about plein air painting. Unless of course you're a member of the Alfrescos, a local plein air group who paint outside in the sun, rain, snow, wind, you name it they're out there! One day when I'm retired and I have some really good all weather clothing I'm going to be so excited to join them....

  1. This is very pretty! All that green is so inviting on this February day! It has a very nice flow to it, as my eye travels through the scene. Wonderful painting!

  4. Thanks Kathrine, Hilda, Shirley and Karen. I used to have the hardest time mixing greens but I seem to have gotten over my phobia, and am starting to understand some of the nuances. So I appreciate your comments for sure.

  5. This is really lovely Claire, you brought so much sunshine into this painting. I am working on a bridge painting , too , a subject I love, but actually find quite difficult.
